Forest Muesli has been inspired by the wild ingredients of the pure and intact forest nature at Lake Saimaa area in Easten Finland. The trees greatly revered by our ancestors – pine, spruce and birch – have provided shelter and means to livelihood as well as nourishment and remedial substances for both humans and animals alike.
PINE (Pinus sylvestris) has throughout the ages provided important lumber and other raw materials for numerous purposes. During the great famine over one hundred years ago when there was a dire failure of crops, the bark of pine trees was used as emergency nutrition. Today pine bark is recognized for its nutritional value, as the industrially produced milled grain is often lacking in fiber, vitamins and dietary minerals.
SPRUCE (Picea abies) The evergreen spruce has self-preserving, protective ingredients flowing through its system. Ages ago, man has learned to use its resin for remedial, medicinal purposes. The young spruce tips are chock-full of antioxidants as well as vitamin C.
SILVER BIRCH (Betula pendula) is the national tree of Finland. The verdant beauty of the birch has been appreciated throughout the ages. Even nowadays, the freshly fragrant boughs and leaves are an important feature in Midsummer feast decorations, as well as in the sauna as a relaxing leafy whisk providing a most pleasurable bathing experience.
For many forest owners today, wood often means only raw material for the forest industry. At Koskijärven Villitila, the tree is also seen as valuable source of well-being and high-quality nutrition. • The aroma of pine bark is original, gently resinous, with a hint of roasted seeds. • The aroma young sprigs and buds is refreshing, delicate, fragrant. • The aroma of pruce tips is citrus-like, refreshing, mildly resinous.
Forest Muesli is rich in fibers and perfect for breakfast and snacks. Add one or two tablespoons in yoghurt with berries and enjoy.
Ingredients: roasted gluten-free full-grain oatmeal, 5% bark flour, freeze-dried spruce tips 4% and birch buds 2%, ground linseed, sunflower, pumpkin and hemp seeds, hand crafted local honey.
Contains at least 14% fibers.
Not recommended if you are allergic to birch and/or resin.
